Animal Fats

Lard - Obtained from pigs (hogs). Pork fat has long been used in the soap making industry. It produces a mild, stabilizing & super creamy lather. The properties are very similar to Palm and, with the controversy surrounding Palm oil, Lard is a great alternative! All of our lard is rendered here on the farm but it originates from other local farmers. We use 30-40% in most of our recipes.  It really does produce a great bar of soap when used with other oils.

Tallow - Obtained from cattle (cows). Beef fat is rendered here on the farm but it originates from other local farmers. Tallow produces a rich, creamy lather that is gently cleansing and wonderful for the skin.

Schmaltz - Obtained from our very own pasture raised Geese! Goose schmaltz is sooo soft and creamy and it just melts away on touch.  It is rich in Oleic (and important omega-9 fatty acid) and it is a fantastic natural moisturizer that protects your skin from elemental damage. We produce these soaps once a year, in very limited quantities
