Our Handcrafted Soap recipes are uniquely formulated with skin nourishing oils, creamy butters and luxurious additives. Welcome to Farmgirl Soapery Add a little luxury to your bath and a little joy to your day Hi there! I'm Jamie, owner and soap maker behind Farmgirl Soapery. My husband, James, and I have operated Silver Valley Farms in south-central Pennsylvania since 2013. My soap-making journey started with a simple question: What is actually in the products we use every day? The more I researched, the more surprised I became to learn that many "soap" bars on store shelves are actually detergent bars made with synthetic cleansers. That discovery sent me down a path of learning the traditional art and science of cold process soap making. After countless hours of research, testing, and refining recipes, Farmgirl Soapery was born. Today, every bar is still made by my own hands in small batches with one goal: Create beautiful soap that feels every bit as luxurious as it looks. What Makes Farmgirl Soapery Different? Every Farmgirl Soapery recipe begins with olive oil as the primary ingredient. It's the largest ingredient in every bar, creating the rich, creamy lather customers have come to love. From there, I carefully balance each recipe with nourishing oils and butters—including tallow, palm, or lard and premium butters like shea, cocoa, or mango—to create bars that are hard, long-lasting, and wonderfully luxurious. I don't believe in making soap that's merely "natural." I believe in making soap that's exceptional. That means every recipe is designed to produce a creamy lather, rinse clean, last longer in the shower, and leave your skin feeling soft—not stripped. Every loaf is poured, cut, cured, beveled, labeled, and packaged by hand. From choosing fragrances and designing each swirl to carefully wrapping every finished bar, I love every step of the process. Thank You Whether you're treating yourself, shopping for a thoughtful gift, or stopping by one of my local markets, I'm truly grateful you've chosen to support my small business. I hope you discover the difference that a thoughtfully crafted bar of soap can make. Warmly, Jamie Farmgirl Soapery

  • Plant Oils & Butters | FarmgirlSoapery

Our Plant Based (Vegan) Soaps are made using the finest plant based oils, butters, essential oils and fragrances. Plant Based Oils & Butters that we use in our soaps Soft Oils Avocado Oil - Expeller pressing (cold pressing) of the avocado fruit flesh. An ultra conditioning oil that is rich in vitamins A, B, D, and has high levels of Oleic and Linoleic fatty acids. I love the moisturizing results of this oil in our soap! Castor Oil - Expeller pressed from the bean of the Ricinus Communis, a tropical perennial shrub. It's a humectant, which draws moisture to the skin and creates an amazing lather in soap. There is nothing quite like it! Used in all of our soap recipes Hazelnut Oil - Pressed from the nuts of the Corylus Avellana, a deciduous shrub commonly grown in many countries around the world. It has a lightweight texture and creates a conditioning and small lather. Olive Oil - Cold pressed from the flesh of the Olive fruit. Results in a very conditioning lather- almost always our #1 ingredient in our soap recipes! Rice Bran Oil - Extracted from the bran (outer coating) of the brown rice grain. This is a mild oil that is rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, essential oils and antioxidants from the Vitamin E family. It can give soap a sheen too, making it look less dull. Hard Oils & Butters Cocoa Butter - A solid, off-white butter that is extracted from the beans of the Theobroma Cacao plant. It adds a luxurious and moisturizing feeling to cold process soap and a stable & creamy lather. Coconut Oil - Cold pressed from the fruit meat of the coconut palm seeds. It probably takes top spot as the most used soap making oil because it produce lovely large & frothy bubbles..... but it is super cleansing. We use it in limited amounts Mango Butter - Pressed from the seed kernel of the Mangifera Indica, a tropical evergreen tree indigenous to India and Malaysia. Adds luxurious conditioning and moisturizing values. Palm Kernel Flakes - Obtained from the kernels, taken from the cracked nuts of the palm tree. Creates a hard bar. Very similar to Coconut oil. This is used in our recipes that cater to those with coconut allergies. Palm Oil - Cold pressed from the fruit of the palm tree. Palm Oil has been one of the top soap making oils for many years but with the increasing problem of deforestation and the destruction of habitats, it has become imperative that we, as consumers of this oil, do our best to ensure that we are not part of the problem. When used, this oil is added to our Vegan recipes in order to create a harder bar. It also produces a very nice stable and conditioning lather. Our supplier only offers Responsibly sourced Palm (RSPO) Sal (Shorea) Butter - Obtained from the fruit of the Sal tree (Shorea Robusta) in India. It has moisturizing properties in soap that are very similar to Shea Butter. Shea Butter - Expeller pressed from the Shea nut. Rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, this oil forms a breathable barrier on your skin that helps to protect it from harsh elements . High in vitamin and mineral content. SHOP

  • All Natural Additives | FarmgirlSoapery

Natural additives lend their own special qualities to the soap by adding nature's own nutrients and providing a unique look, color, texture and even aroma. All Natural Additives Natural additives lend their own special qualities to our small batch soap by adding nature's own nutrients and providing a unique look, color, texture and even aroma to the final product. SHOP Activated Charcoal - Made by processing a high-carbon material at a high temperature and then “activating” it with hot air or steam. Its large surface area means it can help detox the skin, remove toxins, excess oil and bacteria. It allows the skin to feel clean without the use of harsh chemicals. Alkanet Powder - Alkanet is a plant that grows in Mediterranean climates and produces rich, purple roots. When dried out and then either powdered or shredded, these roots will tint handmade soap from pale lavender to a dark royal purple. Aloe Vera Liquid - We use it in place of distilled water in some of our recipes. You'll love the way it feels on the skin. Brazilian Red Clay - Rich in copper and iron and is said to help soften the skin, while also possessing stronger drawing and absorption properties. It adds a wonderful silky lather. Colloidal Oatmeal - Binds to your skin and locks in moisture, giving your skin a chance to rehydrate. It also softens your skin and soothes itching. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it great for people who have dry skin. Coconut Milk - Contains lots of fatty acids. Soaps made with this ingredient can help deep cleanse the skin by removing all sorts of impurities (dirt, dust, dead cells, etc.) , all the while preserving skin's natural hydration. Essential Oils - Essential oils are key elements in soap making; used to add fragrance naturally, essential oils are also included to impart their healing properties Goat Milk - Rich in fatty acids that can help support a healthy skin barrier to keep skin nourished and moisturized. We use it in place of some of our distilled water in special recipes. Sourced locally. Indigo Powder - Natural Indigo powder in soap has antibacterial benefits and has a beautiful range of colors, depending on amount used per pound of oils. Kaolin Clay - Kaolin is all-natural white, porous clay in powder form. It's mild, white, fluffy and adds a silky feel to soaps. It's great for dry or sensitive skin and it can absorb both oil and water. It's also a good additive for anchoring scent. We use it in nearly all of our recipes. Madder Root Powder - Madder is a beautiful, permanent red dye from the roots of a pretty, vine-like, low growing herb that is extremely drought-resistant. It has been cultivated in Europe and the Middle East for at least 5,000 years. Purple Brazilian Clay - naturally occurring copper, selenium, zinc, and magnesium. Brazilian clays add a wonderful silky lather to soaps Raw Honey - We love using our own honey off the farm! It imparts a light, warm, sweet scent. The added sugar content helps increase lather too! This also causes the soap to increase in heat and helps it reach gel phase during saponification, something that helps the colors pop and gives the bars a slightly shiny appearance. Rose Clay - Creates a beautiful natural color and it helps absorb excess oil from the skin. Turmeric - Comes from the root of Curcuma longa. It contains a chemical called curcumin, which might reduce swelling. bright yellow powder commonly used in cooking, dyeing fabrics, and beauty products. It gives cold process soap a range of color, depending on usage rate per pound of oils. Wheatgrass Powder - Contains amino acids and minerals. Used in natural cosmetics and in soap making for its nutritive value and its natural coloring **Note, we do use synthetic colored mica and fragrance oils in some of our soaps (but always ethically sourced and Paraben & Phthalate free!). See item descriptions for full details .

  • Animal Fats | FarmgirlSoapery

Back in the earliest days of soap making, our ancestors used animal fats. Today it still makes for some of the best bars of soap! Animal Fats SHOP Lard - Obtained from hogs. Pork fat has long been used in the soap making industry. It produces a mild, stabilizing & super creamy lather. The properties are very similar to Palm and, with the controversy surrounding Palm oil, Lard is a great alternative! All of our lard is rendered here on the farm but it originates from other local farmers. It really does produce a great bar of soap! Tallow - Obtained from cattle (cows). Beef fat is rendered here on the farm but it originates from other local farmers. Tallow produces a rich, creamy lather that is gently cleansing and wonderful for the skin!
